David Smith was convicted of the murder of 21-year-old Amanda Walker in 1999.
He was later convicted of the murder of 33-year-old Sarah Crump in 2023.
Sarah Crump
Sarah Crump was murdered at her flat on Lady Margaret Road, Southall on 28 August 1991.
She had been a hospital secretary and part-time prostitute.
David Smith was initially tried for her murder in 1993 but cleared after which he went on to murder Amanda Walker for which he was convicted. After his conviction, it was heard that he had bragged to another prisoner that 'he got away with it', it being noted that at the time the double jeperdy laws meant that he could not be tried again for the same crime. However, the law was later changed. and he was convicted of her murder on 25 May 2023.
He had lived in hanwell at the time and had been a lorry driver.
Sarah Crump had been a prostitute and David Smith had booked an appointment with her using the false name of Duncan through the Elite Escort Agency via his work phone at Heathrow. He arrived at about midnight after which David Smith went off to get money out of an ATM during which time Sarah Crump called the agency to tell them that David Smith had arrived.
It was noted that Sarah Crump also called the agency to tell them later that David Smith had left. However, the person at the agency said that she noticed that Sarah Crump's call was short and abrupt and that she didn't use her name and it was later thought that Sarah Crump had relaised she was in danger and had been trying to alert the agency and get help.
She failed to turn up for work the following day and was not discovered unilt 1 September 1991.
Sarah Crump had been stabbed multiple times. He severed her neck muscles and cutt off her breasts. It was said that as she lay dead or dying he then operated on her body.
When her body was discovered it was badly decomposed.
Amanda Walker
He killed Amanda Walker in April 1999.
Amanda Walker had been a prostitute in Paddington who he picked up and left dead in woods at Wisley Gardens in Surrey. She had been tied up and slashed to death.
Her post mortem showed that cuts had been made to her body after her death.
